Comparing 3D seismic prospecting with mining verification and case study in Huainan coal mine

  • 3D seismic survey has been carried out in 254.56 km2 in Huainan coal mine area, which took up 46.14%of the total coal mine field. After analyzing the 1 030 verification points of the 3D seismic surveys we did in the past, we set up a standard for evaluating the accuracy of the 3D seismic interpretation results.Using this standard, we found that the accuracy can reach 62.38% when interpreting the faults of more than 3 m in 13-1 coal seam using general 3D seismic survey, and the accuracy changes to 46.74% while interpreting faults of more than 2m in 11-2 coal seam, but when applying high density 3D seismic survey to interpret faults bigger than 2m in 11-2 coal seam, this accuracy can increase to 85.71%.Based on case study on comparing seismic survey with mining, we analyzed the characteristics of small and median faults and thin-out belts of coal seam on the 3D seismic profile, and checked the validity.
