Formation mechanism and failure mode of perilous rocks in Bailiandong site

  • Bailiandong site cliff in Liuzhou, Guangxi was taken as research objective, the geological investigation found totally 47 unstable rock masses. The lithology of cliff body is mainly the thick limestone with developed joint and karst. There are many dangerous perilous rocks. Study shows that Bailiandong site has steep cliff body, thick limestone layer, developed bedding plane, tectonic fissures, karst fissure and unloading fissure. Continuous rainstorm and earthquake have triggered the flabby perilous rocks and deformation, formed many oversize dangerous perilous rocks mainly with shape of column, wedge and mass in high-very high position, thus showing up multiple compound failure modes such as dumping, sliping It can develop into the dumping, slip and small amounts of fall. Its deformation and failure are absolutely not abrupt, the massive structure of thick layer, karst development, hard limestone with dolomite lenses and developed joints fissures are the congenital basic factors, and rainfall infiltration, dissolution and strong root wedging of karst fissure water are main triggering factors.
