Water disaster control in overlying thick loose layer on bedrock in Shendong coal mining area

  • Shallow burial depth, thin overlying bedrock and thick loose aquifer are the basic geological characteristics of Shendong mining area. During stoping, especially after breaking of the first main roof, water and sand inrush is easy to happen. In order to realize safe stoping, this paper took the cutting area of working face 12207 in Shangwan coal mine as the experiment object, researched the height of caving zone and water conducting fractures, the height of water/quicksand-proof coal/rock pillars, and predicted the mine inflow. Accordingly, several measures were taken including hydrogeological supplementary investigating, construction of direct water drainage holes, underground water detection and drainage as well as surface grouting to guarantee the safe stoping.
